LANDFARMING

A simple and natural way to remediate petroleum and agrichemical contaminated soils at reduced costs and to eliminate long-term landfill liability is to landfarm. Contaminated soil is applied to agricultural fields and incorporated into existing soil. Nature does the rest. Sunlight, air, rain and microorganisms quickly break down contaminants. Farm fields are then returned to crop production. Although a permitting process is required, landfarming contributes no long-term negative effect on the farmland or the environment; it also eliminates the “cradle-to-grave” liability inherent with conventional soil disposal.
