ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES & IMPACT STATEMENTS
Occasionally, major construction projects require an environmental study to determine the impact the construction and operation may have on the ecology of the area. Areas of concern include air, surface and groundwater quality, the natural environment, including sensitive populations such as endangered species and designated wetlands, as well as the human population. An environmental impact assessment considers noise, increased traffic, solid waste management, safety, energy consumption, archeological and historical value, and how these issues balance with project need and economic potential. An environmental study provides an understanding of the individual and cumulative impact of these issues. It will also satisfy certain state and federal requisites and the concerns of environmental groups and organizations.
